Gramercy Tavern “Merry Everything”

One of my all-time favorite projects.  A mini-doc that told the story of one of New York's most beloved restaurants and how they transform the space for the holidays.  The biggest challenge we faced was capturing the interviews and b-roll we needed while not disrupting a working restaurant that serves nearly 600 people a day.  We did two big shoots.  The first was a long day to capture interviews before the restaurant opened, and then b-roll of the various departments when they were in full swing.  The second was three weeks later - an overnight shoot to capture the staff decorating for the holidays.  There were a handful of smaller shoots in between.  One was in the Union Square Greenmarket, another involved fun with a couple of GoPros, and some were spontaneous - they called me up one day and said, "We are having a side of beef delivered in an hour if you'd like to film it."  A fantastic experience being embedded in the restaurant, and getting to see how other creative people do their work for demanding clients under extreme pressure.
